Background
Nando’s is passionate about showcasing Southern African art and celebrating the spirit of our homeland. To honour Zambia’s artistic heritage, we are launching a competition for fine artists to express their love for Zambia by submitting works that celebrate Zambia’s Culture and Heritage.
Our goal is to highlight the extraordinary creativity of our homeland while changing people’s lives.
In Zambia, the appreciation for artwork faces challenges, as some people are reluctant to pay significant amounts for art. This is due to factors such as limited exposure to the value of art and differing cultural priorities.
Nando’s will be celebrating 60 years of independence with an art competition open to artists aged 18-45. Artists will have four weeks to submit one piece of art representing Zambia at 60, focussing on its culture and heritage. The submissions will be judged by Nando’s Arts curator, and leading local artists with extensive experience. The top five finalists will be selected, and the top three winners will be announced at a media engagement event.
