Calling all Visual Artists!

Submit your Masterpiece for a chance to win a fully sponsored trip to CapeTown, or Cash prizes

Background

Nando’s is passionate about showcasing Southern African art and celebrating the spirit of our homeland. To honour Zambia’s artistic heritage, we are launching a competition for fine artists to express their love for Zambia by submitting works that celebrate Zambia’s Culture and Heritage.

Our goal is to highlight the extraordinary creativity of our homeland while changing people’s lives.

In Zambia, the appreciation for artwork faces challenges, as some people are reluctant to pay significant amounts for art. This is due to factors such as limited exposure to the value of art and differing cultural priorities.

Nando’s will be celebrating 60 years of independence with an art competition open to  artists aged 18-45. Artists will have four weeks to submit one piece of art representing Zambia at 60, focussing on its culture and heritage. The submissions will be judged by Nando’s Arts curator, and leading local artists with extensive experience. The top five finalists will be selected, and the top three winners will be announced at a media engagement event.

Opportunities for participating  Artists

1. Exposure: Artists will have the opportunity to showcase their work to a broader audience by displaying it at a Nando's restaurant. This setting offers visibility to a diverse range of customers, potential art enthusiasts, and buyers. Additionally, PR coverage through radio, print, and social media will further enhance their exposure.

2. Promotion:  Association with Nando's and Spier Arts Trust can significantly boost an artist’s reputation and visibility within the art community, offering increased recognition and credibility.

3. Networking: Participating artists may have the chance to connect with fellow artists and art professionals, fostering relationships that could lead to future collaborations and opportunities.

4. Creative Development & Opportunity: Engaging in this competition and attending the creative workshop can serve as a source of inspiration and motivation. Artists will benefit from valuable feedback and critique from experienced judges, aiding their growth and development.

5.Potential for Sales:  The collaboration with Spier Arts Trust and its Creative Block program may open doors for future sales opportunities and involvement in further development programs.

6.Prizes: Winning artists will be awarded cash prizes and gain recognition for their exceptional work.
